Our orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery is headed by Bruce Nevill BVSc, MMedVet, MRCVS supported by trained, experienced and compassionate veterinary nurses. Highland Vet Referrals offers a broad range of surgeries utilising dedicated orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery theatres.

CT is often used for superior imaging in orthopaedic conditions but can also be very useful in the diagnosis of soft tissue conditions involving the lungs, abdomen and urinary tract. We have access to a CT system that is able to rapidly scan large areas of the body to produce very high quality images.

Orthopaedic Surgery

Orthopaedic surgeries that we perform regularly include:

Fractures - Simple and complex fractures
Cruciate ligament rupture – we offer a variety of surgical repairs with an emphasis on TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) and cranial closing wedge techniques depending on the size and anatomy of the patient
Patellar luxation
Elbow Dysplasia
Hip luxation
Arthrodesis - eg partial and pantarsal arthrodesis. Pancarpal arthrodesis

Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft tissue conditions that we regularly treat surgically include:

Complicated wound repair including skin grafts and skin flaps
Complicated tumour excision
Anal gland excision
Total ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy
Urogenital surgery
Perineal, diaphragmatic and inguinal hernias
Laparoscopic ovariectomies, organ biopsy and retained orchidectomy
